Judith P. Swazey received her Ph.D. in the history of science from Harvard University. She is a Professor in the Department of Socio-Medical Sciences at Boston University School of Medicine and an Associate Professor in the Department of History, Boston University. Her research and writing has dealt with the history of the neuro-sciences, the processes of therapeutic innovation, and the social and ethical implications of contemporary biomedical developments.
Karen Meier Reeds received her Ph.D. in the history of science from Harvard University. She has been a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Bryn Mawr College and currently is a Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. [END OF PAGE ii]
