The Internet is a worldwide communication system that links computer networks and provides access to information throughout the world. Access to the World Wide Web via Netscape is available in the Baruch Library and Technology Center Building, 151 E. 25th St., in the following locations: the Media Resource Center on floor one, room #125; the Besso Lab, room #320; on the Macintosh workstations by the elevator banks on floors 3-5 of the library, and on floor 6 in the Baruch Computing and Technology Center.

Examinations Team (American Institute for Certified Public Accountants)
The American Institute for Certified Public Accountants provides the candidate brochure for the exam and other information about the exam. Some sample questions are also given.

CPAnet Discussion Forum
CPAnet offers a discussion forum on the CPA exam, and links to print and electronic study guides.

NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy)
The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy serves as a forum for the nation's state boards of accountancy which administer the Uniform CPA Examination, license certified public accountants, and regulate the practice of public accountancy in the United States.

CPA Examination Services (CPAES)
CPA Examination Services (CPAES), a division of NASBA, administers the Uniform CPA Examination for candidates in the following states: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and Washington. New Jersey State Board of Accountancy provides information on the New Jersey requirements for licensure as a CPA and how to apply for the Uniform CPA Examination.

Office of the Professions, New York State Education Department
The Office of the Professions, New York State Education Department, provides information on the licensure requirements for CPAs in New York. The application for licensure and first registration may be downloaded from this site.

LEXIS/NEXIS

This sophisticated online information system provides access to a number of accounting resources. NAARS (National Automated Accounting Research Systems) provides the complete financial statement portions of annual reports for more than 4000 publicly traded companies per year, plus accounting literature including documents produced by FASB, GASB and AICPA. The annual reports are from companies listed on the NYSE, AMEX, selected OTC and Fortune 1000 companies. The Accounting, Tax and Financial libraries contain case law, agency and regulatory material as well as annual reports, SEC and EDGAR filings, AICPA information and pertinent publications. LEXIS/NEXIS is available in the Besso Lab (151 E. 25th St., room #320) and in the Graduate Student Resource Center (46 E. 26th St., room #522).

Only currently enrolled Baruch students and faculty can access LEXIS/NEXIS and all users are required to attend a LEXIS/NEXIS workshop before they can make an appointment to search the system. Registration for workshops is at the reference desk on floor 2 of Newman Library.
