Academic Search Premier

This database is a scholarly, multi-discipline, full text database designed specifically for academic institutions. It indexes over 8175 periodicals and contains full text for over 4700 scholarly publications. The database includes full-page images as well as color embedded images. This scholarly collection provides full text journal coverage for nearly all academic areas of study - including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.

CQ Researcher

This full-text database provides in-depth analysis about the most current and controversial issues of the day. There are 44 reports produced each year including four expanded reports. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology. Reports are approximately 12,000 words, and feature comments from experts, lawmakers and citizens on all sides of every issue. Numerous charts, graphs and sidebar articles-- plus a pro-con feature, a chronology, lengthy bibliographies and a list of contacts are included in each report. Coverage extends from 1991 to the present.

Dissertation Abstracts

Dissertation Abstracts contains abstracts of doctoral dissertations and master's theses from all disciplines. The database contains records for dissertations from 1861-present with abstracts beginning in 1980; abstracts for master's theses begin in 1988.

Education Full-Text

This is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of more than 500 English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and selected monographic series. English-language books relating to education published in 1995 or later are also indexed. Abstracting coverage begins with January 1994. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source documents. Full-text coverage begins in January 1996.

ERIC

The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to educational-related literature. The database contains citations and abstracts of the international journal and report literature in education and related fields. Subjects include all aspects of education, including child development, classroom techniques, computer education, counseling and testing, administration, higher education, library science, and vocational and adult education. Sources include more than 980 journals, educational reports, project descriptions, curriculum guides, and dissertations. Coverage begins with 1966.

ERIC (IES)

Sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, this is "the world's premier database of journal and non-journal education literature. ERIC provides a public Web site for searching nearly 1.2 million citations going back to 1966 and, with contributor permission, accessing more than 110,000 full-text materials at no charge. ERIC is moving forward with its modernization program, incorporating new technologies to facilitate the addition of materials and help users identify, evaluate, and obtain education-related research and other materials."

Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe

Lexis-Nexis has full text of magazines, journals, and newspapers. Lexis also has access to the full text of the Chronicle of Higher Education and many major newspapers. The easiest way to search the Chronicle and the major newspapers is to click on the source list, type in the publication name in the search box, and then when your entry appears, search directly in the title.

The full text of the New York Times starting with June 1980 is available on the World Wide Web through NEXIS/LEXIS. It is updated daily.

New York Times (1851-2003)

This database offers full-text and full-image articles from the New York Times (1851-2001). Every issue is digitally reproduced from cover to cover including photos, graphics, advertisements and text.

ProjectMuse

Project Muse provides full text access to nearly 250 scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences and mathematics. Dates of coverage vary, with most journals' online issues starting in 1994 or 1995. It contains articles related to both higher education as well as elementary and secondary education administrative issues.

CUNY+ is the Web-based catalog of the collections of all CUNY libraries. The catalog lists library materials in all formats (books, journals, videos, CDs, databases, etc.). You can search all CUNY libraries at once (the CUNY Union Catalog), or you can select an individual library (such as Baruch). CUNY+ can be searched by keyword(s) in the subject, author, title, or ALL fields. A browse search function allows you to search an alphabetical list of titles, authors' names, subjects, etc.
