Locate books and course reserve materials:
Library catalog Locate materials owned by the Baruch library or by other CUNY libraries, regardless of format (i.e., books, CDs, DVDs, databases, etc.).
Baruch Reserve Use the reserve database (link located at the top of the library home page) to access print, CD, and electronic reserve materials. Search by course number, instructor name, and author/title keyword. CDs and print materials are located at the reserve counter on the 2nd (main) floor of the Newman Library.

The Newman Library does not subscribe to the specialized Music Index Online, but it is available at the Hunter, Brooklyn, Queens, and City College libraries, as well as at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.

ABI Inform/Global Covers 1,300 journals and magazines related to business, management and finance since 1971. This includes full-text articles (starting in 1987) for 1,000 titles and citations and abstracts for others.

LEXIS/NEXIS The LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe is a full-text database that provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal and reference information compiled specifically for the research needs of academic institutions. LEXIS-NEXIS may be searched for general, company, and industry news, as well as for legal information.

Naxos Music Library Naxos Music Library provides access to over 75,000 tracks and more than 5,000 CDs with over 2,500 composers represented. The library offers the complete Naxos, Marco Polo and Da Capo catalogues as well as jazz and world music and educational products. Music cannot be downloaded from this database. The database also contains a glossary of musical terms and brief information on composers and their works.
Web resources
Virginia Tech Multimedia Music Dictionary A good online dictionary with the added benefit of audio pronunciation and musical examples. Audio requires a plug-in that can read the AIFF sound format (such as the Quick Time plug-in, which can be downloaded for free).
Dolmetsch Music Dictionary Online Useful definitions of musical terms, with a chart depicting and explaining musical symbols. A collection of composer biographies with external links is in development. The site also includes a free course in music theory, as well as recorder lessons.
Glossarist Music Glossaries and Music Dictionaries Links to more than 100 glossaries and dictionaries on the Web.
YourDictionary.com Here you will find links to a number of general and specialized music dictionaries on the Web. Special topics include rap, hip-hop, blues, flamenco, and banjo.
Gramophone The Web site of this British classical music magazine provides access to the Concise Grove Dictionary of Music, as well as to Gramofile, the archive of Gramophone's classical recording reviews. Free registration is required to access the reviews archive.
A-Z Glossary of Musical Terms Brief definitions of terms including musical instruments, musical forms, notation, and music history. Provided by Naxos Records, along with other educational materials (see the "Learning Zone" on the left of the page).

Classical Music Resources This Duke University site provides links to nearly 1000 individual composer homepages, as well as links to chronologies and necrologies; organizations and centers for scholarly research; electronic journals and newsletters; and more.

BUBL Music Page. BUBL is a comprehensive catalog of Internet resources in all academic subject areas. The lists are selected, evaluated, and annotated.
Music Index Online: a subject-author guide to music periodical literature. Although Baruch does not subscribe to this specialized index, it is available at the Hunter, Brooklyn, Queens, and City College libraries, as well as at the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center (see below).
