    Background notes as received from regional bureaus including information on the geography, history economy and people of various countries.

ABI/Inform Global
WWW and CD-ROM
The ABI/Inform Global database on the World Wide Web contains 1,300 sources related to business, management and finance including articles with a public policy slant. The Web version starts in 1971 with citations and abstracts and in 1987 with full text. ABI/Inform Global on CD-ROM is updated monthly and contains records from 1972 forward with citations and abstracts only. Information on downloading from the CD-ROM.

CQ Researcher
WWW
The CQ Researcher, published by Congressional Quarterly, provides factual and objective information on current, emerging and controversial topics. This full-text database, updated weekly, presents various opinions, provides milestone dates, explores the merits of opposite viewpoints, and leads to more sources for research. Coverage begins with 1991.

Ethnic NewsWatch
WWW and CD-ROM
Ethnic NewsWatch contains a full-text collection of articles, editorials, and reviews published in the newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic minority and native press. Ethnic NewsWatch, which is available in both English and Spanish, provides multicultural coverage of subjects of general interest with special focus on African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Chicano, Native American, Asian-American, Jewish, Arab-American and European-American news. The CDROM is updated monthly, and contains sources from the previous twelve months. Information on downloading from the CD-ROM.

Gale Directory of Databases

The Gale Directory of Databases is a comprehensive guide to publicly available databases produced worldwide. Covering databases of all types in all subject areas, the Gale Directory of Databases contains descriptions of 5,300 databases accessible through more than 820 online services plus more than 3,500 databases available on CD-ROM, diskette, or magnetic tape, as a hand-held unit, or through batch processing from 950 vendors. Separate records for nearly 3,375 database producers and 1775 online services and vendors provide full contact information, list of databases offered, and other details. The file is updated semi-annually.

Gale Research Directories

GaleNet provides access to fourteen reference directories from Gale Research, Inc. The database contains listings for associations, research centers, publishers, publications (newspapers, newsletters, periodicals and directories), television, radio stations and more.

This database contains descriptive and contact information for more than 64,000 newspapers, periodicals, newsletters, directories, television and radio stations, and cable television companies in the United States and Canada. (Directories coverage extends worldwide.) It is updated semi-annually.

GPO Access

GPO Access is a service of the U.S. Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to a wealth of important information products produced by the Federal Government. The information provided on this site is the official, published version and the information retrieved from GPO Access can be used without restriction, unless specifically noted.

Index to Current Urban Documents

The Index is a guide to the reports and research generated by local government agencies, as well as civic, academic and research organizations, in approximately 500 selected cities in the U.S. for the current year. Over 2,400 documents indexed yearly.

LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe

The LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe is a full-text database that provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal and reference information. LEXIS-NEXIS may be searched for general, company, industry, legal and government news, company financial information, country and state profiles, biographical information, medical abstracts, law reviews, U.S. code, constitution and court rules, state legal research, transcripts of congressional testimony, case law for federal and state courts, and U.S. code.

Literature of the Nonprofit Sector Online

Bibliography of works in the fields of philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, foundations, voluntarism, fundraising, proposal development and charitable giving. Compiled by the Foundation Center, Literature of the Nonprofit Sector Online contains 16,247 bibliographic entries, of which 9,787 have abstracts. Its coverage begins with 1989.

PAIS International

The PAIS International Database, produced by the Public Affairs Information Service, is a bibliographic index covering the public and social policy literature of business, economics, finance, law, international relations, public administration, government, political science, and other social sciences. PAIS contains abstracts and citations of journal articles, books, statistical yearbooks, directories, conference proceedings, research reports and international government documents. PAIS is updated monthly and contains records from 1972 on.

Indexes research and publication abstracts on public policy research and analysis from think tanks, university research programs, research organizations and publishers. Half the abstracts link directly to the full text of research reports and studies. Database of 27,000 records, updated weekly.

PsycINFO

PsycINFO provides bibliographic citations for articles and book chapters in the pyschological literature. May be used to identify studies on issues relating to public policy; i.e., racism, education, sexism, discrimination, organizational behavior, etc. Coverage begins with 1887.

Sociological Abstracts (formerly Sociofile)

Sociological Abstracts (formerly Sociofile) provides bibliographic citations and abstracts for articles appearing in the sociological literature. May be used to identify studies relating to public policy, i.e., racism, education, sexism, discrimination, organizational behavior, etc. May be searched in conjunction with PAIS. Sociofile is the electronic version of the print indexes, Sociological Abstracts and Social Planning/Policy and Development Abstracts, from 1963 forward, plus enhanced dissertations citations from Dissertation Abstracts International since 1986.
