INFORMATION RESOURCES

Borrowing Library Materials

Materials may be borrowed with a valid Baruch ID; you must have your ID activated at the circulation desk in order to borrow materials, request materials online, and view electronic resources off campus. The loan period for general circulating materials for faculty is 16 weeks with a 16-week renewal. The loan period for video for faculty is one week. Upon your request, student aides and research assistants may borrow on your behalf once you have completed an authorization form at the circulation desk. A form to request Film is provided through the library's website through the "Request Forms" page. Call 646-312-1660 or send an e-mail to: reserve@baruch.cuny.edu.

Free Photocopying

The library provides free copy cards for faculty making single copies from library materials using the photocopy machines and microfilm equipment in the library. For more information, see the "Faculty Photocopy Cards" policy page or call 646-312-1650.

Database Searching

The library website provides access to many databases that are accessible to faculty both on campus and off campus. Other databases are accessible via computers in the library. A complete listing may be found on the library website under "Databases." Library faculty are available for consultation. Call 646-312-1610 or Email a Librarian for more information.

Interlibrary Loan

Materials not owned by Baruch can be borrowed from other CUNY libraries. You can search the online catalog to see if other CUNY institutions own a particular book; if they do you can request that it be delivered to Baruch directly via the catalog. Materials from other libraries can be returned at Baruch (Baruch faculty also have access privileges to most other CUNY libraries). If a book is not owned by CUNY, or a journal article is not available at Baruch, you can request these materials directly through ILLIAD which is the library's interlibrary loan service. In many cases journal articles can be delivered electronically through this system. Call 646-312-1674 or e-mail ILLBB@baruch.cuny.edu.

Recommending Purchases

Faculty may recommend the purchase of library materials to support instruction and student research through their department liaison or by completing this online form.

Library Research Guides

Librarians maintain a series of subject guides known as LibGuides. These guides recommend strategies and suggest and provide access to resources. They range from broad overviews of a particular discipline to coverage of individual courses, concepts, or data sets. In addition to these guides the library has created a number of individual tutorials and interactive presentations to assist users with business and industry research, financial research, oral presentations, and more. These are available from the library's Tutorials page.

Research and Course Consultation

Librarians are available for one on one consultation by appointment for strategies for conducting research or creating coursework. You can schedule a consultation using the Research Consultation form, and you will be contacted by a librarian who has expertise in your area. Alternatively you can contact a subject specialist directly from the Library Faculty Directory or by calling 646-312-1610.
