Interlibrary Loan

What Is Interlibrary Loan?

If you need a book, book chapter, article, technical report, patent, etc., that is not owned by the library, you can fill out a form in our ILLiad system to request a copy be sent to our library for you to use. Articles and book chapters are often delivered electronically as PDFs to your ILLiad account.

If the book you want is owned by another CUNY library, you should request the title through our library catalog. For help, there is a a video with instructions on using the "Request" system for CUNY books.

What Can Be Requested?

Articles from journals to which Baruch does not subscribe, books not owned by a CUNY school, or other materials needed for research which are not owned by the library or available in full text online can be requested through Interlibrary Loan. Materials such as microfilm, reference books, rare materials, and media can be requested but finding a library to lend may not be possible. Textbooks, study guides, workbooks, or leisure reading materials cannot be requested through interlibrary loan.

How Long Does It Take?

Usually from one to three weeks if available locally. Some material may take longer.

Who Can Use It?

Baruch faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, and staff. To use the ILLiad system, you will be asked to enter your Baruch username and password.
