LAPTOP LOAN PROGRAM

Through the generosity of the "Two Kids from the Bronx" and the Baruch Class of 1948, the library has established a laptop loan program.

A total of 250 wireless laptops are available for loan to currently enrolled Baruch College undergraduate and graduate students. These wireless laptops are loaned for a three hour period for use in the library. The laptops provide Internet connectivity. The laptops have CD-ROM drive inside.

An additional twenty wireless laptops are available for a three day loan period. They may be used to connect to the campus network in the Newman Library and within the Newman Vertical Campus. The laptops are equipped with a combined CD-ROM-DVD player. Headphones and zip drives are available upon request. These laptops include a modem and software that enable Internet access for students who have an account with an Internet service provider.

ELIGIBILITY

All currently enrolled Baruch undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to borrow these laptops.

All laptops are borrowed and returned at the circulation/reserve desk on the third floor of the library. Students are required to present a valid ID card.

For further information, contact Eric Neubacher, Head of Access Services, Newman Library, 646-312-1670.

COMPUTING SERVICES IN THE LIBRARY

All computers in the library are intended to support library research. Users must read and follow the guidelines on City University of New York Computer User Responsibilities.

All library workstations provide access to CUNY+, subscription databases (including CD-ROM and World Wide Web databases), the Internet and the Blackboard. The workstations on the 2nd floor behind the reference desk are not intended for general Internet browsing; they are reserved for the use of subscription databases. The Services page provides a complete description of the electronic information resources available on the workstations in the library.

Baruch students may borrow a laptop comuter for use in the library or for use at home by inquiring at the circulation desk. The laptops have word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and World Wide Web browsing software.

Diskettes for downloading are available to Baruch students at the circulation desk for a $1.00 refundable deposit.

Laser printing is available from all library workstations on a fee-for-service basis through the use of a copy card.
