Through the generosity of the "Two Kids from the Bronx" and the Baruch Class of 1948, the library has established a laptop loan program. A total of 250 laptops are now available for loan to currently enrolled Baruch College undergraduate and graduate students. Laptops are loaned for either three hour period for use in the library, or for three days home loan period. All laptops provide wireless Internet connectivity. They may be used to connect to the campus network in the Newman Library and within the Newman Vertical Campus. They are equipped with a combined CD-ROM-DVD player. Headphones and zip drives are available upon request. Three days loan Laptops include a modem and software that enable Internet access for students who have an account with an Internet service provider. An additional 35 MAC laptops are available for a one day loan period.
ELIGIBILITY: All currently enrolled Baruch undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to borrow these laptops. Laptops are borrowed and returned at the circulation/reserve desk on the third floor of the library. Students are required to present a valid ID card. Limit of one laptop per student on loan at any time.

Starting fall 2008, the library has allocated 5 laptops for Baruch faculty loaning. A faculty member may borrow a laptop for a maximum of 7 days. All laptops have built-in wireless connection and Microsoft Office applications. Laptops are available on a first come first served basis and may be borrowed at the circulation/reserve counter on the second floor of the library. All computers in the library are intended to support library research. Users must read and follow the guidelines on City University of New York Computer User Responsibilities.
All library workstations provide access to CUNY+, subscription databases (including CD-ROM and World Wide Web databases), the Internet and the Blackboard. The workstations on the 2nd floor behind the reference desk are not intended for general Internet browsing; they are reserved for the use of subscription databases. The Services page provides a complete description of the electronic information resources available on the workstations in the library.
Baruch students may borrow a laptop computer for use in the library or for use at home by inquiring at the circulation desk. The laptops have word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and World Wide Web browsing software.
Diskettes for downloading are available to Baruch students at the circulation desk for a $1.00 refundable deposit.
Laser printing is available from all library workstations on a fee-for-service
basis through the use of a copy card.
